ABOUT THE MAINE CHAPTER OF THE APPRAISAL INSTITUTE
The Maine Chapter of the Appraisal Institute is the largest professional appraisal organization in Maine. It has members throughout the State as well as from New Hampshire and New Brunswick, Canada. Originally chartered as a Chapter of the Society of Real Estate Appraisers in 1971 with fifty-eight members, it now has over one hundred and thirty members, associates, and affiliates. The Maine Chapter of the Appraisal Institute holds business/social meetings throughout the year in locations from Southern to Central Maine. A wide variety of educational seminars and workshops are also offered during each year. Anyone with an interest in real estate appraisal in Maine is welcome to attend these meetings and/or educational programs.
MISSION STATEMENT
The Appraisal Institute is a global membership association of professional real estate appraisers, with 22,000 members and 92 chapters throughout the world. Organized in 1932, its mission is to support and advance its members as the choice for real estate solutions and uphold professional credentials, standards of professional practice and ethics consistent with the public good. Members of the Appraisal Institute benefit from an array of professional education and advocacy programs, and may hold the prestigious MAI, SRPA and SRA designations.
Our mission is to lead the real estate appraisal and consulting profession in Maine by providing our members with meaningful education and shared experience that support competency and integrity. We strive to serve the public trust and our membership with quality education and professional resources, while promoting and enforcing the highest standards of appraisal practice and our code of professional ethics.
